Emma just wrote my name…
Casey's response:
Bertsch, don’t let her off that easy…that’s barely a third of your name!! ;) jk That’s so great…..thanks for sharing!

Would you please buy Chutes and Ladders, and Candyland for Easter. I really like playing it with Grandma. We learned words and how to spell them today. I'm having a good time and I miss you. I'll see you after work. Papa is cutting the grass. I watch him through the windows. Have a nice day!
Love and Kisses,
Emma
June 2009 - we met up with Alisa, David and the girls at the Aronoff Center to watch Dora Live. Here are some pictures:
August 2009 - Jane Fritz forwarded these to Casey from Emma's first day of school back in 2007. Wow - look how little she was! I forget how much Mia does look like her!
Email from Mrs. Doepke on 8/26/2009:
Hi Casey and Stacy,
Emma had an outstanding day today…just wanted to let you know! She WOWed me all day, working through puzzles, identifying numerals, rote counting with the calendar, and quite the artist in her expression of something ‘for dad’! She never ‘skipped a beat’, very orderly and peaceful throughout the work time, transitions, lunch and rest time (she did sleep for close to an hour).
She is a joy in our presence, and Vanessa and I appreciate having her here with us!
Best,
Sloan
Good morning Stacy!
The pictures are so darn cute, especially when you know it's about 7:15 a. m. Thank you for sending them. Stacy, she has your gift for words. It's only part of what makes her the great little girl that she is. Her words of expression and that innocent face can make anyone melt. I think of her during the day. She makes me happy.
Email from me regarding Em's first day of Pre-K1, 8/26/2009:
You can think of all the good things in life when having a busy hectic life. Those good thoughts can pull you out of any slump, or a little caffeine! Enjoy your day!
Love,
Kar

Subject: First Day!
“I am going to miss you, mommy, but I’m gonna have fun today!”
Those were the parting words from Emma this morning as I strapped her in the carseat. She had a great first day in Pre-K 1.

Papa said Luke ate at your house this morning. He ate a pancake and banana here at 8:30. Nap 9-10. While walking later he dozed off for a few minutes. Lunch: Bananas, (Peas and carrots on the tray), along with him spoon feeding himself applesauce with assistance. He's an eating machine. He's sneezing off and on with a little bit of a runny nose. He's a good boy and adds happiness to our day! I hope your day is flying by!

Mom

We went on an adventure to the woods today. It was a beautiful day! We saw a toad, berries, beautiful leaves, mushrooms, interesting trees and so much more. We heard birds and crickets. The children had a wonderful time. We are hoping to have many more fun learning adventures in the woods this year! Have a great weekend!

Hey! Em and Luke fell asleep after about 15 minutes in the car, went to bed right away, and Luke slept until 5:30 a.m. There was no plugging him. He had a bottle and went to bed talking with his, "hum, and bop sounds." Then, it was into dreamland by 6:15 a.m. Whoa! Up again when early bird Papa and Em got up around 7:15 a.m. Waffles all around (appleasauce too for Luke) and now we're settled into our playing routine.
I've gotta run. Luke is banging the ball on the kithen wall! At, At, At!
Love,
Mom

We had fun tie dying with upper school students on Monday. We have been learning about colors and they are getting ready for Mole day (it is a chemistry class thing...maybe a molecular thing?:)) on Friday. It was a great experience for all!
Email from Casey on 10/23/2009:
Mole day is a date corresponding to the unit called a Mol, related to the number of anything equal to 10 to the 23 power (like 10-23…oct 23! J). The US chemistry students are studying the Mol unit, PreK1 is studying colors, so tie dyes are perfect for both of them…what a fit!

What a surprise! I have been trying to get Luke to say, "All done, (will change to all finished when he can get it) Uh-O, and down for weeks. Today he has it all! It's great. He's used then properly too. He's had his fingers in his mouth off and on today. Maybe his teeth caused the slight fever a few days ago. It's a great warning because then adults know to give him Tylenol for the fever and actually we are treating gum and teeth discomfort.
Em got a new blanket at the Dollar Store today to keep here. Problem solved.
I hope you are having a good day!
Love,
Mom
